A New Season: Kurobe in the Fall

My trusty Uniqlo button-down

So, today is the first day of fall. The Weather Channel says that it’s 77 degrees in Virginia Beach right now, but with the clouds and the wind it feels cooler. I’m currently wearing my muted green and blue flannel button-down that I purchased at Uniqlo during my first fall in Kurobe. This is our fifth fall together and I’m happy to say that we’re still going strong.

I love fall. I’d even say that it’s my favorite season. Fall has all the best colors, scents, and fashion. I recently bought a candle that I feel extremely confident calling the most amazing smelling candle ever created. It’s made by Yankee Candle and it smells just like a wood burning stove. Whenever I have it burning next to me, I just want to cuddle up on the couch, drink a hot cup of tea, and binge watch Netflix.

Speaking of hot beverages, I saw the funniest meme on Instagram (Side note: I’m addicted to Instagram) the other day: “If you say ‘Pumpkin Spice Latte’ 3 times in front of a mirror a white girl in yoga pants will appear and tell you her favorite things about fall.” Well, I’ve never had a pumpkin spice latte (an amazing feat for a girl who loves fall, yeah?), but you’ll usually find me in a pair of yoga pants and I do want to share some of my favorite things about fall with you.

However, instead of listing all of my favorite fall drinks (dirty chai!), clothing (scarves! scarves! scarves!), and foods (turkey! stuffing! mashed potatoes!), I’m going to share some of my favorite fall pictures that I took in Kurobe.

Fall in Kurobe

Not a single one of these pictures will fall into the “stereotypical” fall imagery category. There are no changing leaves, no bonfires, and no fuzzy blankets. But, when I look at each photograph I am instantly transported back into that moment and can feel the crisp, cool fall air on my face.

These pictures made me smile.
